KTM wants to project itself as a premium brand in India. So KTM might refrain from introducing bikes below 200 cc class and the rumours about the possible launch of KTM Duke 125 in India can be ruled out quite comfortably. The KTM Duke 200 is the starting KTM bike in India.

KTM Bikes that will be manufactured in India:

Duke 125 will be the base for Duke 350

This bike will get its inspiration from the Moto 3 class KTM bike and will have a 350 cc engine. This sports bike is a fully faired bike and will be launched globally. The bike is set to compete with the likes of Ninja 250R and CBR 250R in European market. So going by the European regulations this bike would be having  a maximum power output of less than 33 bhp.The engine is expected to be a twin cylinder V engine like the engine seen on KTM’s flagship bike the 1190 RC8 R.This bike is expected to get its styling and design characteristics from the Moto 3 bike. This bike would be first launched in Europe. This bike with its Moto 3 inspired race design and powerful engine with a higher power output than the out going 250 cc bikes can give a tough competition if priced wisely.

3.KTM Duke 690:

KTM Duke 690 this will be a tough competitor for Ninja 650R

It has already been on the streets of Europe and has earned a reputation for its off road characteristics. This street fighter KTM bike can be easily identified with its side exhausts usually most KTM models use Under seat exhausts and some use under the engine exhausts. This bike i the firt from KTM bike range to use a side exhaust. The Duke 690 is powered by a single cylinder 690 cc engine which produces a maximum output of 67 hp.The bike when introduced in Indian market can be at a price tag of below rupees 4.5 lakhs. This bike could be a serious competition to Ninja 650R which will be sold along this KTM bike.

The launch of KTM bike range of MX and Enduro are unlikely in India given by their low sales volume they will be imported to India. All this launches targeted in and around 2 years could possibly mean the KTM stores will be a visual sight to watch with the high displacement bikes which were once a dream for Indians like me.
