The design started with a clean sheet

Ducati 1199 Panigale is the successor of Ducati 1198.1199 Panigale is the flagship Super Bike of Ducati. For making the Panigale Ducati had to go to the drawing board and make a completely new redesign. The new design had helped them to reduce the weight and increase the power output of the bike.Paniglae is the home town of Ducati. So they named the 1199 as 1199 Panigale to honour their home town.Ducati Launched the 1199 Panigale at 2011 EICMA Show in Milan,Italy.

The bike is available in red color only

The design of the bike is entirey different from other Ducati Super bikes. This super bike has a new design after 20 years. The previous bikes 1198 1098 and 998 etc all used the same trellis frame work and the design was same with minor teaks in aesthetics and changes in the engine output. But the Panigale is an Exception as it was started from scratch.

Ducati bikes are known for their Exotic and Aggresive in nature. This bike even in standstill can represent aggresiveness combined with beauty. The color choosen for this bike is the Flagship Ducati Red (also Nicknamed as Ferrari Red). The Glossy paint finish was awesome.

The bike was designed to be light weight and also powerful. The hunt for light weight on the bike started  from Front headlights. The front Head lights are LED’s previous Ducati Super bike the 1198 had Projector head Lights but projector head lights take more space and also adds weight to the bike.So Ducati turned to LED’s which occupy less space and are less weight and also efficient. This bike also becomes the first bike to feature LED Headlights.

The tail lights look awesome

Ducati thought that the Trellis frame which we see on every Ducati bike adds more weight to the bike.As the emphasis of the bike was to achieve light weight.Ducati had gone against their tradition and removed the frame completely from the bike. The fairings and the fuel tank along with the rider’s seat are bolted to the engine. This type of arrangement was seen in Ducati Desmosedici GP 11 Moto GP bike.

The Under seat Exhausts were replaced with Under belly exhausts which ext under the engine adds to the centre of gravity of the bike.As the exhausts requires less pipe work as they exit under the engine this made them weigh less than those of 1198.

The rear disc brakes are on the right hand side which is a Ducati tradition. The large rear dual tail lights with space in the middle can make it feel like they are silencers. The rear tyre has a stylish mud guard.

The digital metre has high resolution TFT display and is derived from Moto GP and was also used on Multistrada and was well received. The digital metre is visible even at night. The Tachometer,Fuel Gauge and riding modes are all present  in the Digital meter. The bike has three riding modes Race,Sport and Wet and these modes can be changed when the bike is moving. You can also configure each mode as you wish.

The Dry Weight of the bike without fluids is 164 kg (414.5 lb) and with the fuels filled up the bike weighs 188kg (414.5lb).
