Yamaha R4 is a 250 cc motorbike by Yamaha.It is not yet launched but a Japanese magazine released the pictures of the R4 250 cc bike and released them.It is a sporty 250 cc bike.The bike has the styling of Yamaha R series DNA.The bike is meant more for track use rather than street commuting.However it is also usable in the street with a 250 cc engine.The bike be released first  in Japan then followed by Europe.This bike will compete against the like Honda CBR 250R,Kawasaki Ninja 250R,Hyosung GT 250R in Europe.Previously Yamaha does not have a tough competitor in the 250 c segment.So Yamaha wants to gain a market share in the 250 cc segment with the R4.So one could expect the R4 lot os technologically advanced systems making way into the bike.The bike wil be competitivey priced against the other 250 cc bikes.Yamaha also plans to launch Yamaha Fazer YS 250 in 2013 in Europe.the Fazer YS 250 is a naked version.But completely different from the R4.

Design:

The Yamaha R4 is a true sports bike.It gets its styling from Yamaha R series DNA.The rear part is from the Yamaha 1000 cc super bike R1 and the fairings on the sides and front are derived from Yamaha R6 and the rear view mirrors are  from Yamaha YZF R125.The most interesting feature of the bike is dual disc brakes on the front.In general 250 c bikes have only a single disc brake at the front.The split seat is positioned at a low height.The turn indicators are attached to the front fairing.The rear number plate holder is of ladder type which is stylish and sporty.R4 is written on the sides and the numeric 4 extends to the end of the fairing which is a symbolic representation of racing characteristics of the bike.The Yamaha branding is present on the under cowl of the bike in white color.The fuel tank is two piece.The lines starting from fuel tank extend towards to the front fairing giving the bike a more R series appeal.The exhaust is mid-ship free flowing is from Yamaha R6.udgng by the foot pegs and the position of the seat the posture is sporty.And one has to lean forward to grab the handles.

Engine:

The bike is powered by a 250 cc 4-stroke liquid cooled single cylinder engine with fuel injection.The engine has 4 valves controlled my an advanced DOHC camshaft.Cross-plane crankshaft seen in Yamaha R1 might make its way into this bike.The technical specifications are not available as the bike is mostly targeted at European market in the learner’s class for the age group of 18-21 years the bike cannot have more than 33.5 bhp.So one could safely assume Yamaha may get the power output not less than 27 bhp.As if it falls behind 27 bhp it would be hard to gain a market share as the CBR 250R gives competition if the two bikes have the same power output.The final drive is chain.

Brakes:

The dual front disc brakes means that this bike will become the most safest bike in the 250 cc category as no other bike offers dual disc brakes at the front in 250 cc class.dual disc brakes on the front are seen in bikes that are 600 cc and above.This will be the first bike to have dual disc brakes in the 250 cc segment.

Chassis and Suspension:

The bike would feature a more advanced Delta box frame and front inverted telescopic forks and at the rear proven Mono Shock Suspension linked to a swing arm.

This bike is available in three color shades
